Come join Mount Saint Agnes for an early Easter treat. The film, Chocolat, is the charming screen adaption of the popular novel by Joanne Harris. It tells the story of Vianne Rocher, a lovely gypsy chocolatier, who brings change and transformation to a tranquil and stolid French village when she and her young daughter blow into town. While the villagers are at first threatened and scandalized by the her strange ways—imagine the nerve of opening a chocolate shop on the first Sunday of Lent!—Vienne eventually wins them over with her kindness, her joie de vivre…and her tempting treats. Chocolat was nominated for 5Academy awards, including Best Picture, and boasts such illustrious talents as Juliette Binoche, Judi Dench, and Alfred Molina. It is a delightful fairy tale for adults that teaches invaluable lessons in generosity, acceptance, and the value of embracing simple pleasures. It further offers viewers a unique transition from the rigors of Lent to Easter Joy.
